This special font allows you to create logos using basic shapes ("Panels") and Masking Patterns. No drawing required! Works with most page layout and drawing programs. Version 1.3 includes revised "Masking Patterns" and takes advantage of the ability of some programs to turn "auto-kerning" on and off.
INSTRUCTIONS:
[1] If you have a page layout or drawing program, create a new text block on your page. If you are using a word processing program go to the next step.
[2] Select "InstantLogo" from your Font Menu. Make sure that you have installed your font correctly (check your computer manual for the proper installation of fonts into your System).
[3] Select 72 points or higher in your (Font) Size Menu. Selecting 96 points or higher allows you to view your logo better on screen. You may change the size of your logo after you are satisfied with your design.
[4] Turn OFF "auto-kerning" in your program (check your program's manual on how to do this).
[5] Type any uppercase character {"A"-"Z"}, any numeral {"1"-"0"}, or any shifted-numeral {"!"-")"}. This creates a "Panel" that makes up the basic shape of your logo. There are 36 panels to choose from.
[6] Go to your Color Menu Item and select the color "White." This will turn the next character that you type into a white mask that overlays over the first character.
[6] Now type a lowercase character {"a"-"z"} to create your Mask.
[7] Finally, turn "auto-kerning" ON in your program. This will force the lowercase character that you typed (your "Mask") to slide over the first, uppercase character that you typed (your "Panel").
[8] If you do not have the ability to turn "auto-kerning" and and off, you must use a drawing program or page layout program that allows you to create two different text blocks. Type the first, uppercase character in the first text block with a solid color. Then, type a second, lowercase character in the second text block with the color "White." Finally, drag the second text block so that it sits right on top of the first one.
THAT'S IT! To fully take advantage of this font, use it in either Illustrator, Canvas, or Freehand. These programs have the option to convert characters to outlines that could be manipulated further.
OTHER USES:
* Use these Panels and Masks in your next newsletter to mark the ends of your articles or as bullets.
* Use Masking Patterns (found in the lowercase characters) to overlay your other dingbat fonts (such as Zapf Dingbats and others).
* Use the "Style Menu" in your program to add more variations to the existing Panels and Masks.
